Holding Onto Hope

Mission

The Mission of Holding on to Hope, County of Monterey Family Justice Center is to provide one place for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking to receive services from governmental agencies and community-based organizations in order to aid in the breaking of generational violence.

The Big Idea

Specifically, we are requesting support for the following essential pre-construction costs:

Site assessment
Tree removal
Demolition of the existing building, including asbestos abatement for a red- tagged structure
Program manager salary to coordinate this critical phase
Property insurance for the site
Rental of a chain link fence to secure the premises

This foundational work is vital to ensure that when we launch our capital campaign, we are ready to build a center that meets the needs of survivors with safety, dignity, and compassion.

How does your organization benefit Monterey County?

Holding onto Hope benefits Monterey County by providing comprehensive support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking. We serve individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, many of whom face barriers to accessing coordinated, trauma-informed services.

Family Justice Centers bring multiple agencies together under one roof to streamline support and reduce the burden on survivors. Individuals will be able to access law enforcement, legal aid, restraining order assistance, safety planning, housing and shelter referrals, mental health counseling, case management, victim advocacy, and more—all in a single, safe location.

This wraparound approach ensures survivors don’t have to navigate a fragmented system alone. Our work helps break the cycle of generational violence by supporting children and families in healing from trauma and building long-term stability. The Salinas HOH FJC will complement our center in King City and expand these vital services to Monterey County’s largest region.

From the front desk to the one on one conversation with individuals whom took the time to talk to me and made me feel welcome, heard, and understood without judgement. A safe place like my second home. Thank you all!
